Are you flying to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport with a long layover before your next flight? Do you have a meeting to attend, or is your hotel room not ready yet? Whatever the reason, many passengers choose to store their luggage at CDG, whether to visit Paris during their spare time or to explore the airport hands-free. So, are you looking for a storage facility at Paris Airport? As one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs, CDG naturally offers luggage storage services. Keep reading to find more!

The CDG Airport Luggage Storage Facilities

Charles de Gaulle Airport features three terminal buildings. Terminal 1 serves international flights, terminal 2 is home to most Air France services, and terminal 3 primarily handles low-cost flights. However, only terminal 2 offers luggage storage services.

Therefore, if you are arriving at or departing from terminals 1 and 3, you’ll need to use the complimentary CDGVAL shuttle train, which runs between the terminals from 4:00 am to 1:00 am, to reach terminal 2.

The CDG luggage storage facility is operated by Baggages du Monde. It is actually managed by HelloPassenger, a brand of Baggages du Monde. It is located at the CDGVAL Station Hall, at Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV. You can find it on Level 4, directly across from the entrance of the Sheraton Hotel. The facility is situated landside, in the pre-security area, between sub-terminals T2C and T2E, closer to T2E. Operating from Monday to Sunday, from 06:00 am to 09:30 pm, it offers lockers as well as other storage options. If you’re concerned about the procedures, assistance and guidelines are provided in multiple languages. Finally, you can store your bags for some hours or even for days, so there’s no need to worry about the duration of storage.

Is Luggage Storage Time-Consuming?

The storage procedure is generally quick, taking approximately 5 minutes per bag. However, during peak periods, you may have to wait in line. Therefore, you should take this time into account when planning your airport procedures. Wondering which times are considered peak? If you’re traveling from October to April, the busy hours at the storage facility are from 08:00 am to 01:00 pm. If you’re traveling at other times of the year, you should expect a longer procedure between 08:00 am and 02:30 pm, and again between 05:30 pm and 08:00 pm.

My Tip: Are you in a hurry? You can easily avoid long waiting times by using the BdM Priority service, which offers fast-track luggage drop-off. Alternatively, the BdM Premium service is even more convenient: your luggage can be collected at the baggage claim area and delivered to the check-in zone at your specified time.

Items You Can Store

The luggage storage facility at CDG Airport offers secure services. For security purposes, it is monitored around the clock, while all bags are being scanned with X-ray machines. Consequently, all the restrictions applied to hold luggage apply to bags stored at the airport as well. So, what can’t you store inside your luggage? In general, explosives and items that can be dangerous aren’t allowed in stored baggage, such as:

  • Ammunition
  • Primers
  • Detonators
  • Mines / Military Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Smoke bombs
  • Dynamites

Regarding food, there are no strict regulations. However, smelly or perishable items may cause issues during storage. Your personal items will be scanned and recorded to simplify the retrieval process. Therefore, if you don’t want your bags to be scanned for any reason, you will not be able to use the facility. Additionally, you’ll be asked to present your ID or passport when dropping off the luggage. In that way, bags aren’t only checked but also properly linked to their owners.

Are There Size Restrictions?

Are there any restrictions regarding the size and weight of the luggage that can be stored? There are four categories of baggage that ultimately affect the cost of the service:

  • Accessories: Bags that don’t weigh more than 3kg/6.6 lbs, such as laptops and helmets.
  • Cabin-size Bags: Luggage that doesn’t exceed 9kg/19.8 lbs in weight and 55×35×25 cm in dimensions.
  • Checked Luggage: Bags weighing up to 30 kg/66 lbs and with total dimensions smaller than 156 cm.
  • Oversized Luggage: Larger than standard hold baggage. Passengers must contact the facility in advance to ensure availability, as weight and size limits apply. In general, sports equipment and pet crates are accepted. If you have oversized luggage, you can call +33 (0)1 34 38 58 98 to arrange storage in advance.

How Much Will You Pay?

The cost of the luggage storage service depends on the number of bags, their weight and size, and the duration of storage. If you like to stay organized, you can pre-book the service. You can also cancel it up to 24 hours before the agreed time if your plans change. Payments can be made online via Visa and Mastercard cards. However, you can also pay on the spot, using a bank card or even cash (euros).
